October 31, 2007 — Trisha Yearwood says that Halloween is quickly turning into her second favorite holiday, although picking costumes can be a challenge in her household.

Trisha tells Dial-Global that all year she and one of her stepdaughters with husband, Garth Brooks, had planned on going as Sonny & Cher. The problem? Over the summer, her stepdaughter has grown so much that the two are now about the same height. While it could change at the last minute, Trisha says they may go as the Blues Brothers.

She adds that everyone in her family gets into the fun of Halloween, especially the adults. "What's really funny is that probably the two most excited people about getting dressed up and going trick-or-treating are me and Garth. Our girls are getting to an age where, especially the oldest, Taylor, the 15-year-old, doesn't really wanna go, but of course we're gonna make her go anyway. It's fun 'cause we get completely in disguise, get dressed up and we get to go and trick-or-treat. And the neighborhoods that we go in are really great. They really decorate their houses and get into it, so it's just really fun."

Thanks, Sandi for sharing that story with us! Amber was asking about anyone dressing up for Halloween. I don't usually do that, but as anyone who knows me personally knows, I love to scare the kids that show up at my door! I haven't quite decided exactly what I am going to do this year, but I will come up with something good. There is someone here in the neighborhood that makes the costumes for their kids and so far, I have seen a beautiful butterfly, a Pillsbury Doughboy, and several different kinds of fruit! The banana was a real good one!
Hope everyone has a great time tonight and please have fun, but be safe!

I haven't dressed up in years...and I don't really know what I would dress up as if I started up again. smile.gif I guess that I'm just way out of the habit of doing such stuff. But I have nothing against it, like feeling that I'm too old to do it, etc . My particular job at the moment prevents me from starting my own party or whatever.

I was just listening to ABC World News, and they said that roughly 1/3 of adults are dressing up for Halloween these days (in other words, the holiday is on the rise again in popularity)...

You're never too old to dress up! I dress up every year and you would not believe the smiles on people's faces when you go to the store or gas station in a costume. LOL

Amber, I agree, you're never too old to dress up and enjoy Halloween! It's such a fun, carefree Event! One of my favorites! Although, around here, you don't trick and trick once you hit 7th or 8th grade...sooo, I always have a HUGE Halloween Party for my older son-this year we had probably 30 8th grade boys here! Luckily it was about 38 degrees outside, and it didn't snow! I dressed up as a Bar Maid, my friend, dressed up as the bride of darkness, and we were a hit-even with the boys! But then, have a fire and lots of food, and they adore ya!
It's great to hear Trisha so excited about doing things with her family, and hearing that she gets dressed up! That's so cooL! Husbands and kids are so great!!!! "usually"! LOL

Tammy - sounds like you had a great party! Love your costumes too! smile.gif

I actually ldressed up as a football player - my favorite player that is - Teddy Bruschi! It was fun to meet the kids at the door dressed up! When Ted came home, he put on Tom Brady's shirt and so we were the Patriots! lol! It was a lot of fun. I don't think we had as many kids as we usually do. But then one mom said that there had been a murder down along the coast of CT, so she thought maybe some moms were keeping their kids close to home. I don't blame them for that.

Oh, what did you all give out this year for candy? We actually gave out playdough, and candy! The little ones love the playdough! smile.gif

we had the assortment pack, reeses,M&Ms, Snickers,Butterfingers,Peanut MMs, and one other thing.....variety is usually good except when you got a little munchkins going I WANT THE REESES!!!! That got old....quick

I don't know about where you live, but around here, people use to look at you funny if you were older than eighth grade and still dressing up for Halloween. That has somewhat changed in the last several years...but I'm already out of the habit, as I was saying earlier, mostly because I don't have any kids and/or because I haven't had friends who were much into doing that kind of partying around Halloween. And the last couple of years, I've been working where I couldn't have participated much anyway. But I don't really have anything against doing it now...it probably would be fun to do that again sometime/someday. smile.gif I still haven't figured out who or what I would be if I were to dress up...
