I don't know if this has been talked about yet, but has anyone purchased Martina's new CD, and if so, how do you like it? I've read only good things about it. I also saw that she sings "Blue Bayou". dry.gif . I have always wanted to hear Trisha do this song. Maybe someday.

She was great on American Idol. I think it was the best I've ever heard her sing "Anyway".

I haven't gotten this cd, probably won't...I really like ALOT of her songs, but feel she yells a bit much. The best part of her performance last night was how she sang about dreams while looking at all the idols, and meeting her daughter(least I think that's who she was) she was quite the character wasn't she! To Cute!

I got it! It's great. I love it. My favorites are Love Land, House of a Thousand Dreams, Beautiful Again, and I'll Still Be Me. All around it's a great collection of songs. But, then again i'm a die hard Martina fan!

I listened to it online and only really liked a few songs on it, but I'll probably end up buying it anyway, I tend to love all of her albums eventually. I did buy Clay Walker's new CD "Fall" yesterday and that is great! I'm really enjoying it! I'd recoemnd it!

You should get this album. Her voice is very subdued on this one. It's quite a departure from her normal stuff. It really is a great album!

Would you say that Anyway is the "odd song out" then? 'Cause I absolutely can't stand that song... and it's mostly her delivery.

I did buy the album. I only really like two songs a lot, "House Of A Thousand Dreams" and "Trying To Find A Reason." As for the rest of the album, I only halfway like about two or three songs; and to be honest, I don't like "Anyway" either.

I also liked the way she looked at the idols when she was talking about dreams and also about singing. Like I said before it's the best I've seen her perform the song, maybe it was partly because it had some meaning related to the idols. But I don't really care for the song either, it's a little too contrived sounding for me.

Her daughter was very cute. She's definitely not shy that's for sure!

I wanted it really bad before it was to be released, because I like Martina McBride, and also since the song "Anyway" really makes music in my heart. The lyrics are so positive and classy, and the music is spellbinding to me.

A friend of mine gave it to me for my birthday.

It's great. It is a great album.I recommend it.

It debuted at #2.

This is one of two reasons why I don't have any Martina CDs; I feel she frequently oversings to prove how "little but loud" she is.

The other is her choice of material. Apart from occasional exceptions like "When God Fearin' Women Get The Blues" or "Love's The Only House", I think her material often veers too close toward the safe and inoffensive.

Leslie Satcher--the songwriter--just nails this song. smile.gif Heard her sing it at the Bluebird one night--along with a version of Golden Ring (with Bobby Braddock) that's better than anything that George and Tammy ever did.

Speaking of "Anyway",did anyone see the movie on Lifetime titled
"A Life Interrupted"? It is a good movie based on a true story starring Lea Thompson
about crimes against women, and at the end of the movie Martina McBride sings the
beginning of the song "Anyway" (the part about building).

A caption is underneath saying that she lends her voice for that cause.I saw it the day.

I guess I totally missed you say that she sings Blue Bayou on this album, because I just heard it. blink.gif And I was coming here to say, unsure.gif.

I take this to mean it didn't blow you away? But I just know that Trisha would nail it! Hmmm...maybe she should do it as an encore song. I mean if she can take on "Midnight Train..." (which I still think Gladys Knight owns. Don't hurt me guys), then why not "Blue Bayou".

No, it didn't....but then again, I wasn't a fan of Timeless either. Classic songs like that that are "owned" by another artist are hard to cover successfully, and if you add her vocal delivery, it didn't work for me.

I agree that it would be more suited for Trisha; she seems to have the perfect sense of knowing when to belt it out and when not to in any song. Her voice also just seems more suited for the song. smile.gif

I believe it all depends on how one does them. If a remake of a classic song is done, then the song needs to resonate with that artist on a personal level. "Blue Bayou" was a song that clearly resonated with Linda on that level, and that's always been the way she has approached songs like that. Having not heard what if anything Martina has done with that song, I'll hold back my judgment.

Blue Bayou is a wonderful song, however,it is not on
Martina McBride's "Waking Up Laughing" album.

I like Martina McBride, and I feel that she is very good.
What is meant by "delivery"? I'm curious. Is it the loudness, the soft touches, the stance?

I think Trisha does well on everything I've heard, but even Trisha sings loud.

The Timeless album by Martina McBride is a tribute to the classics such as Tammy Wynette,Hank Williams, etc.I also have that CD. My friend gave it to me for Christmas. Understandably,a younger person may not have ever heard Tammy Wynette,or others like her(maybe even Johnny Cash),so the opinions would be different.

I thought she nailed Timeless, and I think a couple of songs on Waking Up Laughing are lyrically hard to understand at first list listen.I think it's a great album.

Yes it is. It's a bonus track on Itunes.
