Wow It seems like just yesterday that i moved into residence and was starting my first year of school. Now I just finished my last exam tonight and i'm pretty much all packed up and heading home for the summer tomorrow morning. Crazy isn't it??

I know I've changed my mind like 7 or 8 times about what i want to do and what i want to study. Though my heart is really wanting to study music and sing, I found something that i would love to do even more. I'm going to be a Child Life Specialist. For those of you who dont know what that is, it is people who work with the children both who are patients themselves or the children of parents whom are patients and you play games and do crafts with them. Try to make their hospital experience more positive and uplifting. I was personally onthe other side of it all and it was something that definitly helped me so much! So I want to give back. It would be a hard job emotionally but i think i could do it. And I dont even have to change schools because they have the needed programs here.

But anyways Just wanted to say hey and Thanks for the support.

Have a great summer, I will keep in touch.

Mealnie, I am so proud of you! It does seem like just yesterday you were starting and wow, 1 year down already! Your new found career choice sounds just awesome!!! As you know, I too have been on the other side of that hospital bed (as in, in it!) and what you want to do DOES make a difference and I totally commend you for it! Even though we're only a few years apart, watching you change, mature and grow and complete your first year college has been a joy! Have a fantastic and relaxing summer and try not to go bonkers at home! smile.gif LOL! Keep in touch, Melanie, and please, rest thsi summer--you've totally earned it!

Many Blessings,
-Sarah Liz smile.gif

Oh Melanie - it seems like just yesterday you were a teen-ager in highschool!!! But here you are - finished your freshman year of college! Wow! And I think you would be wonderful at helping little ones get through being in the hospital, and dealing with that environment! What a wonderful choice that would be for you - and for this world! My heart was lighter, just reading about your choice.

Have a safe trip home, and a wonderful summer! Talk to you soon!

Love, Debbie

Congratulations Melanie! Now that you've got a year under your belt, you have the experience to get through the rest of your years of college; you know what to expect. Many drop out after the first semester, and some drop out within the first year. I remember when I had my first Physical Science class (as a Freshman), the professor told us the first day, "Look around at your classmates; only 25% of you (or less!) will be here four years from now..." I'm glad you're enjoying your time in college; it can be one of the best times of your life or the worst, depending on how you live it. smile.gif Anyway, keep up the good work!

My does time fly! So overall, how would you rate your freshman year at college away from home? Besides no sleep for a year? laugh.gif

I think your new choice for a career is a wonderful one and all that you've been through, you know how much it means to be receiving the care. You have a heart of gold and it takes special people like you to have that kind of job.

You should be proud of yourself and your accomplishments thus far - we've all witnessed you growing up on here and are proud of you!

Keep us posted ~ oh and now you sleep....... wink.gif biggrin.gif
