I saw Trisha's concert Friday as well and as always, she put on a great show. Ruth Eckerd Hall is the perfect size venue for Trisha, and she and the band always sound great when they perform there. I love how she talks with the audience and how genuine she is. No false pretenses. It helps the audience connect with the performer so much more when they talk with them like that. I saw Dolly Parton recently and she talked a lot through the whole show and everybody loved it! Trisha, don't ever stop doing that!
One of the topics that Trisha talked about was the encore at the end of the show and how she hates leaving the stage before it. I too can't stand the encore process at most concerts where the performer leaves and the audience has to scream and wait to see if they are coming back out or not. I loved that Trisha thinks that whole thing is silly and said that she would just continue until it's over. "When I leave, you leave". How refreshing!
The comments she made when people asked "How's Garth" were hilarious as well (he's home doing laundry or he's out in the car). I know she's just kidding, but the thought of a multi-million selling artist like Garth Brooks sitting outside waiting for her in the car while she finishes her concert is hysterical. Although with down home folk like Garth and Trisha, you never know! Again, it just goes to prove what nice, normal, everyday, people Garth and Trisha are, regardless of their fame and celebrity.
As for the set-list, she played 6 songs from HHPOL (well, actually 5 1/2 as she only did one verse of Let the Wind Chase You) which was great, as I love the new album (cd?) and especially loved This Is Me Your Talking To. I was happily surprised to hear Cowboys Are My Weakness, another of my favorites from the album. It was also refreshing to hear a few non-hit requests that others made such as Sweet Love and Little Hercules, although had I known that you could request songs on-line, I surely would have vote for my favorite, Perfect Love, a number 1 song that
WASN'T included to my disappointment.
Regardless, just the fact that they take requests from the audience (both in-house and on-line) is awesome. It makes the show so much more spontaneous and fun. Would have liked to have heard Believe Me Baby I Lied and There Goes My Baby instead of XXX's & OOO's and She's In Love With The Boy, but what can you do. There's so many hits and such little time. Hearing Georgia Rain and How Do I Live made up for that though. Trisha sang both so beautifully. What an incredible talent.
Trisha, in case you read this, I know that you only perform at a select few dates during each tour, so I hope you know how much we love and appreciate you and your music here in the Tampa/Clearwater/St.Petersburg area and hope you will always continue to include us each time you head out on the road.
Thanks again for another great show!
