Very cool to a make the change to another label!!! They say good things must come to an end - well, your previous record label gave you your beginning to the first part of your singing career when we all learned about Trisha Yearwood..... Now we get to hear the beginning of your career as Mrs. Trisha Yearwood-Brooks, the outstanding, most awesome singer that conveys emotions in a song like no other that we've come to love and cherish since 1991.
CONGRATULATIONS Trisha ~ Here's to a fresh start with a new label, new albums, and so much more!!!! Very exciting and looking forward to your new album in 2008!!!!!!

What I hope her new record label will do for Trisha is promote her music more effectively. I don't think Trisha's last three albums were promoted very effectively; they seemed to have wanted Trisha to "compete" with the Faith Hills and Martina McBrides, and that's not who she is. Here's hoping the new label is reminded of how unique Trisha is.

I think you nailed it with the promoting. What I have learned from talking to a local program director is along with a single getting into their "play range" which was from 40 to 50, he said he needs to see commitment from the label. He said if the label isn't committed, it does him no good. I have to believe they never would have signed Trisha if they weren't committed to promoting her. And it's not like there are that many artists that she will get lost in the shuffle. I am encouraged because I do hear the other artists that are on the Big Machine label here. I really think this is going to be a very positive step and finally get some new music on the radio for Trisha's fans. I hear her older stuff all the time, but had a heck of a time getting them to play a request for her last couple of singles! This has me really excited!

Here is another cool article.
Trisha Yearwood signs with Nashville indie By Ken Tucker
Fri May 11, 4:17 AM ET
NASHVILLE (Billboard) - After 16 years with MCA Nashville, country star Trisha Yearwood is signing with an independent label.
Yearwood will record for Big Machine Records, a nascent label whose other acts include Taylor Swift and Jack Ingram.
Big Machine founder, president and CEO Scott Borchetta worked with Yearwood during some of her most successful years at MCA.
Yearwood has been with MCA since she debuted on the charts in 1991. Her first single, "She's In Love With The Boy," spent two weeks at No. 1 on the airplay chart. Over the last 16 years, Yearwood has scored 19 top 10 singles including five No. 1s. Her most recent No. 1 came in 1998 and her last top 5 was in 2001.
She has sold 9.8 million albums in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan. Her most recent album, "Jasper County," sold 472,000 copies.
MCA is scheduled to release a greatest hits package on Yearwood later this year. Yearwood's first studio record since 2005 will be released on Big Machine Records in early 2008.
Big Machine, which launched in September 2005, is distributed by Universal, MCA Nashville's parent company.

I agree that Big Machine wouldn't have wanted Trisha if they didn't intend to put promotional power behind her. It may be a more of a matter of
how they promote her albums than the power itself, though. Usually, albums these days, country and otherwise, are made with the notion of having two or three potential "hits" on them, with the rest more or less being "filler." Trisha, on the other hand, particularly with
Real Live Woman and
Jasper County, seems to be more of an album artist now. To me, she seems to view an album as a collection of songs that mean something to her on a personal and emotional level, and that she hopes will eventually resonate with an audience. She doesn't second-guess what she
thinks what the audience wants, and that, I feel, is the mark of a great artist.

I am so truly excited Trisha has the new opportunities of expressing her wonderful talents through this new venture. It has long been a dream of mine to see her join a new record company that maybe thinks a little more about her. MCA-Nashville still has her listed on their site. I remember they never even changed 'her' page for the longest time. It seemed they didn't really care to let her light shine... Well, congrats on your new leaf Trisha! We are all excited to see what you have in store for our hungry ears.
