That gave me chills it was so amazing! That may be the best I have heard her sing it. I've said it before that I absolutely love that she sings it the way it was meant to be sung and doesn't try to stylize it. Just an amazing performance!

DAYTONA BEACH - Chubby Checker twisted and shouted, Brooks & Dunn were "rockin' and twangin'," and Trisha Yearwood provided an elegant national anthem as six Air Force Thunderbirds roared above the luxury tower.

Celebrities set the scene for Sunday's 50th anniversary of the Daytona 500, a spectacle in itself with some 200,000 fans on hand. Yearwood, a Grammy Award-winning artist, said she never has performed in front of so many people, although she has sung at the World Series, NFL games and even the closing ceremonies at the Olympics.

"Nothing like this," she said. "I didn't even know the number until I got here. But it's such great energy. It's amazing."

Yearwood admits she doesn't have a favorite driver, although Tony Stewart and Kasey Kahne -- "when he was like 12" -- once set foot in her house.

"I drove the Tony Stewart simulator car this morning," she said. "But don't tell him I wrecked it."

Several fans were lucky enough to pose for photos with Yearwood in the Daytona infield after her national anthem.

I agree that when other individuals sing the anthem, the put their individual styles in it, but Trisha - well being married to a disabled american veteran, We both think she was classy, awesome, outstanding - and many other ways to describe how she portrays her feelings in songs. Trisha is just one classy, outstanding lady!!!

What's really wonderful is I won a signed Ryan Newman t-shirt from Speed & Sound from when Trisha was signing autographs with Kevin Harvick and of course lots of pics of both.

I'm not into Nascar but when Trisha is involved I just love it! lol (Please forgive me.....I was raised in the Cincinnati area where the big thing was horse racing.....)

We didn't get home in time either! I was so bummed! The race had already started when I turned the tv on. But I always love the way Trisha sings the National Anthem! She is so amazing. I'm going to have to check it out on that other place - lol! Can't wait to see how she looked!

I have to admit, I was very excited that Ryan won - he's Mike's favorite driver! Had to call him up afterwards and congratulate him on his driver winning!!!

I got to hear her sing it again today! My local station always plays the national anthem at noon and I was thrilled the minute I heard Trisha start singing today. I was going to email them and ask if there was a chance they would start playing her version and they beat me to it! When I emailed them my thanks, the response was We Love Trisha too!
