Her cutback in touring had nothing to do with age but more with responsibilities she feels she owes her new family.

"I wanted to have a life after marrying Garth," she explains.

The superstar couple had known each other for 20 years before they wed. After Brooks divorced his first wife in 2000, they began dating. But it took until May 25, 2005 - in front of 7,000 people at a concert in California - that Brooks proposed. They married that Dec. 10.

"We feel like we're still on our honeymoon. Maybe it's because we got to our relationship in reverse," says Yearwood. "We knew stuff about each other before we got married. We had no secrets."

So she decided to stay home and help Garth raise his three daughters.

"Garth wanted to be a part of their daily lives and I wanted to be there for them. I didn't want to go out on the road and have this cardboard cutout of him next to me. We are very blessed their mother lives nearby so that the girls are being reared by both parents. They get to see both every day. That's very important. Everyone gets along."

As a result, she had to cut her schedule down from 200 dates a year to "maybe 40."

Considering they are two of the more bankable stars in country music, there surely must be a duet being considered in the future.

"Maybe after the girls are older," Yearwood says after a pause. "It could happen in the next two years. But right now, I'm happy to return to familiar places like the Hilton and then return home."
