SUPERSTAR TRISHA YEARWOOD SIGNS EXCLUSIVE RECORDING CONTRACT WITH BIG MACHINE RECORDS

Recording artist Trisha Yearwood, together with Scott Borchetta, President & CEO of Big Machine Records, announced today that after 16 years with MCA Records, Yearwood is leaving the label to join Borchetta at Big Machine Records. It is only fitting that one of the most majestic voices in Music City would join forces with the hottest new label on Music Row.

This move is far from random, as the relationship between Yearwood & Borchetta is long and solid. The two first worked together in the late ‘80s when Borchetta was a member of the promo staff at the now defunct MTM Records (yes, that stands for Mary Tyler Moore) in Nashville. Trisha had recently graduated from Belmont University and was working as the label's receptionist, while singing demos on the side.

In 1990, Trisha’s talents were brought to the attention of executives at MCA Records, where Borchetta was in charge of radio promotion. Together, they built a track record that includes: nine #1 hits; 20 top-10 hits and an impressive list of Gold & Platinum certifications totally in excess of 10 million records sold.

“I've had a long, successful relationship with Scott Borchetta, and I've watched with pride as he's taken Big Machine Records from a brand new company to an extremely successful record label in less than two years. I'm excited about starting this next chapter in my career with Scott and Big Machine,” says Yearwood.

“Today is about Trisha Yearwood’s future. Her amazing talent and accomplishments speak for themselves. To know that I have the opportunity to provide the arena for her career to go to the next level has me--and the Big Machine staff--incredibly excited,” comments Borchetta.

It is no secret that the business model for the music industry is changing rapidly. Borchetta's Big Machine is on the cutting edge of those changes, proving in less than two years that an independent label can make serious inroads in this business. The addition of Yearwood to the label's roster will help to solidify the label's continued success.

Yearwood’s first studio record since 2005 will be released on Big Machine Records in early 2008.

Trisha Yearwood, hailed as 'one of the finest interpretive singers ever by Entertainment Weekly has a long list of career accomplishments.

She is managed by Ken Levitan at Vector Management. Her booking agency is The William Morris Agency.

Big Machine Records opened September 1st, 2005 by music industry veteran Scott Borchetta, who serves as its President & CEO. The company is headquartered in Nashville, and its artist roster includes Taylor Swift, Jack Ingram, Jimmy Wayne, Danielle Peck, Dusty Drake and Sunny Sweeney.

In May of 2006, Big Machine celebrated its first #1 single with Jack Ingram's "Wherever You Are". At the end of that year the label's three new artist releases--Jack Ingram, Danielle Peck and Taylor Swift--all made the Top 10 Most-Played New Artists of 2006 as monitored by Mediabase and reported by Country Aircheck Magazine. Jack Ingram was named the Most-Played New Artist of the Year by Country Aircheck Magazine. In less than eighteen months the label celebrated its first Gold certification with Taylor Swift's self-titled debut album. In March 2007, Big Machine Records shipped its one-millionth CD. The label is exclusively distributed by Universal Music Group Distribution.
