hello everyone, this has been bothering me for years now! I have to share. Back in 2001, Lee Ann Womack won CMA female vocalist of the year. Trisha soooo should have won. Anyone have any thoughts about that?? I was looking at the poll CMT conducted that year and we voted who we thought should win. Trisha had 56% of the votes, while Lee Ann Womack had 6%...its been a long time, but it still bothers mee!!!!!

I agree, that is bothersome. It was about 2001 when Lee Ann Womack decided she was the reincarnated version of Tammy Wynette. Nashville temporarily worshipped her until they realized she can't bring what Tammy brought to her songs... and it's a new millenium and we're a little past that. Trisha released her album Inside Out and subsequently released a few singles (most successfully, I Would've Loved You Anyway), but her chart positions and publicity were not adequate to get her where she needed to be during awards season. Many of us blamed MCA for this...

I thought she would have won that year but it wasnt one of her best years. Inside Out sold ok but I Would've Loved You Anyway was a big hit.
But the years I thought she really got robbed her 1994 and 1995, In 1994 she was coming off a platnium album with the "Song Remembers When" and the title track topped RR charts and #2 on BB. XXXs and OOOs was riding high. Trisha was a touring act. And somehow Pam Tillis won? 1995? 2 #1s a platnium album and a headlining tour. And a Alison Krauss won. She hadnt payed her mainstream dues. 1996 Trisha had another strong year but Patty had that coming for a long long time and she deserved it. I actually thought if anyone would have beat Trisha in 1997 Patty was the only one who would have standed a chance.
Now the 1992 Horizon Award DO NOT GET ME STARTED!

You and me both! To this day, that one still bugs me.
I've heard over the years, there was alot of politics involved in that decision. Argh!

there isnt any truth to this but in Get Hot or Go Home I think I read Suzy Boggus label made the deal with Mary Chapin Carpenters label that they would nominate Chapin for female vocalist if they pushed for Suzy for Horizon, so two major labels voting for one artist you stand a good chance. Trisha has never deserved any award more
