Ok, here ya go Cory! This is fun! I am enjoying reading everyone's responses so far.
What is your earliest Trisha memory? When I first heard “She’s in Love With the Boy” and saw the video. I was 15 years old.
What was the first Trisha album you ever bought? Trisha Yearwood. However, not until a couple other singles were released after SILWTB.
How many of her albums did you buy on their release date? Starting with The Song Remembers When, all of them, except for the two new MCA compilations.
First year you subscribed to the TY Fan Club? Back in ‘92, I think, when her mom ran it and we got the awesome newsletters.
What is your favorite TY live performance (tough I know!) Do I have to chose one?! lol If you mean at a show, I love hearing her tear into an oldie standard like “Over the Rainbow” or “Someone to Watch Over Me.” I also LOVE “Midnight Train to Georgia” as an encore.
Favorite award show appearance? Again, do I have to chose just one?! I would say definitely the ‘97 and ‘98 CMAs and I also loved her surprise comeback at the ‘05 CMA Awards singing “Georgia Rain.” I was so in shock to see her there and that song became an instant favorite of mine. And how cool was it to see her stunned reaction to the love she received from her peers and the crowd?!
Favorite acceptance speech? ‘97 CMAs, of course! She was so stunned and shocked. I will never forget that night watching her stunning performance of “How Do I Live” followed by her first female vocalist win. Plus, she looked so gorgeous that night.
Ever converted someone into a big fan? Unfortunately, no.
What song made you a fan? The very first one, SILWTB!
Which is your personal favorite? (I know it varies by day) Ok, way too difficult Cory, but I’ll try! To name just one, I’ll say that I have always loved “Down on My Knees.” I just love the way she nails the bridge of that song. “You’re Where I Belong” and “Georgia Rain” are two other personal favorites high up on the list for me.
Own the cookbook? Absolutely - Love it!
Own the book “Get Hot Or Go Home”? Yes. This is the book that got me started with my crazy country music goals and dreams and eventually inspired me to apply to Belmont for the music business program - even though my parents put the brakes on my dreams right quick. However, it is never to late, and I am working on making my dreams of a career in country journalism a reality right now.
Have you ever been lucky enough to meet Ms Trisha? Twice! First time, I was scared to death. Second time, we chatted like old friends.
Dream duet partner with TY? She’s already sang with so many different and diverse people, its hard to think of somebody. But I would love to see her do something a little out of the box with Wynonna.
Favorite of her actual duet partners? Duh, her hubby of course! There is just something so magical anytime they sing together.
If you could pick one song for Trisha to record, which would it be? After hearing her sing “For Good” from Wicked, I would love to hear her do “Defying Gravity” as well. Odd, I know, but that is like my favorite song at the moment. Idina Menzel released a “popified” version and it rocks! I would love to hear Trisha do something like that.
Favorite Album cover? I would say Songbook, The Song Remembers When or HHPOL.
If you were going to give Trisha flowers what kind would you give her? (Random I know but I wanna see if everyone gives a similar answer!) Like Cory said, this will be corny, but if she still loves sunflowers, I would probaby get her some kind of arrangement of sunflowers mixed with other flowers.
Favorite Album? This is tough because I love them all, but I am a bit more partial to Thinking About You, Real Live Woman and HHPOL at the moment.
Favorite songwriter Trisha has used? Definitely Matraca Berg and Karyn Rochelle.
Is there anything career wise Trisha hasn’t done that you wish she would? Still waiting for that standards cd and a live cd/dvd compilation or video compilation. LOL! I would love to see her tackle acting every once in a while and eventually do a musical on Broadway. I think I recall her saying she would love to do Broadway one day if the right role came along.
