Bobbie Gentry (more swamp-rock in tone)
"Venus"--Bananarama (from 1987), or Shocking Blue (from 1969)?

Actually I like Banamarana's....

Hard Luck Woman - Garth Brooks or KISS
KelseyLee
Mr. Yearwood

"In This Life"- Bette Midler or Collin Raye

P.S. Please be gentle. I'm a BetteHead. wink.gif
Erik
Bette Midler

"What Made Milwaukee Famous (Has Made A Loser Out Of Me)"--Jerry Lee Lewis or Rod Stewart?
TRISHAFAN4LIFE
Jerry Lee Lewis

California Girls - Beach Boys or David Lee Roth tongue.gif
Erik
The Beach Boys

"Fancy"--Reba, or Bobbie Gentry? (Bobbie's is from the winter of 1969-70)
TRISHAFAN4LIFE
Bobby Gentry

Make The World Go Away - Ray Price or Elvis Presley

Erik
Very hard--I would say Elvis', though Eddy Arnold's version, which was a massive crossover hit in the fall of 1965, is definitive (IMHO).

"Traveling Prayer"--Billy Joel or Dolly Parton?
TRISHAFAN4LIFE
another difficult choice ~ however I'm going with Billy Joel on this one.

Sad Eyes - Bruce Springsteen or Trisha
Erik
Trisha's

"Without Love (There Is Nothing)"--Elvis', or Tom Jones? (both, incredibly enough, came out simultaneously near the end of 1969)
TRISHAFAN4LIFE
actually I love both versions.......... ohmy.gif

blink.gif

this is really tough............. ohmy.gif

Tom Jones........... Did I choose that???? lol

Yes, Tom Jones...... final answer

I'm a believer - Smashmouth or The Monkees
Erik
The Monkees

"There Goes My Everything"--Jack Greene or Engelbert Humperdinck?
TRISHAFAN4LIFE
I have to go with Jack Greene - was never a "Humperdinck" fan!

Workin' for a living - Garth w/Huey Lewis or the Huey Lewis and the News
Erik
I prefer Huey's original.

"American Woman"--The Guess Who, or Lenny Kravitz?
TRISHAFAN4LIFE
definitely The Guess Who

Wham! by Lonnie Mack or Stevie Ray Vaughn
TRISHAFAN4LIFE
actually Wham is an instrumental..........

so how about T R O U B L E........... Elvis or Travis Tritt
Erik
Elvis, most definitely.

"Thank God I'm A Country Boy"--John Denver or Billy Dean?

"Thank God I'm A Country Boy"--John Denver or Billy Dean?

Definitely John Denver! I remember when the song came out......... smile.gif

Walking in Memphis - Marc Cohen or Cher
Erik
Marc Cohn's original (but I'd still prefer Cher's to Lonestar's any day of the week)

Speaking of which:

"Amie"--Pure Prairie League or Lonestar?

Actually there is a video mix of Marc Cohn and Cher's version together ~ it's okay.

Amie - DEFINITELY PURE PRAIRE LEAGUE - is there anyone else? lol

Sad Eyes - Trisha Yearwood or Bruce Springsteen? blink.gif
Erik
I'll go with Trisha's, since I've never heard the Boss' original

"I Can't Stop Loving You"--Kitty Wells or Ray Charles?
partner2010
AKON ALL SONGS HE IS THE BEST SINGER

Erik
Is there any way you can actually answer the above post?!
cmjunkie
Since partner2010 doesn't seem to be answering the question - can I take a try at it?

I pick Ray Charles because I've never heard Kitty Wells' version.

"I Wouldn't Be A Man" by Josh Turner, Don Williams or Billy Dean?
Erik
Don Williams

"Fancy"--Bobbie Gentry (winter of 1969-70), or Reba McEntire?
TRISHAFAN4LIFE
hmmm I like Reba's version.

Green Grass of Home.......... Elvis or Tom Jones
Erik
It may seem like sacrilege to say this, but I think Tom Jones did it the best. However, that's not a knock against the King.

"Suspicious Minds"--Elvis or Dwight Yoakam?
