This past week proved to be a good one for animal lovers.The Senate overrode a presidential veto on a farm bill .The USDA reached an important decision disallowing
the consumption of meat from "Downed Cows"(sickly from abuse and neglect)which will force at least some better treatment of cattle to take place.

Polar bears have been placed on the endangered species list preventing hunting import,etc. which closed a legal loophole.

Animal fighting was made a federal law with increased fines (5 times higher),and longer prison sentences.

The Humane Societyof the United States(HSUS) reached a settlement in their lawsuit with one of those being sued. One of the two cockfighting magazines reached an agreement to publish their magazine differently in compliance with the new federal laws.
The other magazine still refuses,and Amazon.com,being sued for selling illegal material,refuses to stop selling the remaining cockfighting magazine ,etc. despite the new laws.They are still being protested and boycotted. Maybe they'll end up in such legal problems prison will disable them from selling anything! A Hard lesson.
