The mac and cheese is killer! cool.gif

Finally made the mac and cheese last night! It's yummy!!!! And it was one of the easiest mac and cheese recipes I've ever made. I may leave the breadcrumbs off next time though...or half the amount. For me, I don't find they add much to it.

Her cookbook is one of the easiest to follow and the ingredients are normal everyday things you probably have or can easily get. Great cookbook!!

Okay, so I FINALLY got the cookbook (had to wait for a reason to spend 15 dollars in gas to get to my nearest Borders) and the first thing I do is read EVERY introduction. The second thing I did was make the meatloaf.... into meatballs. I desperately needed meatballs and didn't want plain ones, so I took the meat loaf recipe and turned into into meatballs about the size of a golf ball (hint: if you do this, make sure the crackers are extra squished and not as many or it's soggy because of the size of the meatball)

Much too my surprise.... Everyone including my brother who is not much of a rib eater loved her ribs. They use too (except my brother) love my long awaited 5 hour slow cooked pork ribs. I have been told they are no longer needed and these are the only ribs I'm allowed to cook.

An aside to this is my sister-in-law is one of those idiots that believe Trisha had something to do with Garth's marriage ending and is not a big fan of hers. I waited until she eat the last one to tell her where I got the new receipe........ She knows I'm a big fan.

Good going! I would have done the same thing to my sister-in-law too! Only because we all know that it was not Trisha that caused Garth and Sandi's divorce.

Ok, I tried the blueberry muffins and made 3 batches of them and each batch was gone within the 20 minute cooking time! I couldn't keep them around long enough !!
I also have made the chicken salad, and I just sit and eat it with a fork right out of the container as a meal... it is that good.
My favorite still is the broccoli casserole, make it at least once a week.
Peanut brittle, and brownies, are excellent!
I am not a banana lover, but when I decided to make the banana pudding, I fell in love with it! But I left off the meringue as that is not something I enjoy. And the banana bread, fresh out of the oven........mmmmmm

Next is the soup section for me

I have been too broke to buy any ingredients lately. Plus I barely have time for anything but coming back to this thread really makes me want to whip some more up!!! My birthday is coming up.......I wish I had someone to make me b-day cakes lol

Ok people, we need a little help here......

My roommate and I absolutely love Trisha's cookbook! Everything we've made so far has been amazing.......ribbon meatloaf, chicken and broccoli casserole, green punch, feta and artichoke dip, roasted carrots, chicken tortilla soup, etc.....everything has been fantastic. However, tonight was the first time we actually found ourselves scratching our heads and wondering "what went wrong?". blink.gif

Our bannana pudding simply wasn't on par tonight and we can't figure out what went wrong. The pudding never thickened!! Does anyone have any ideas as to what happened?? Any suggestions???

Thanks

Lara

i made the chicken tortilla soup for 5 last week, and it was amazing! it's a bit expensive for all the ingredients if you don't have most of them already, but very tasty and very worth it. we each had a big bowl, most of us had seconds, and there was still some left for a few of us to take for lunch the next day! biggrin.gif

I've tried the turkey, deviled eggs (Garth's), real mashed potatoes, chicken pot pie, and a couple of others! What i truly love about Trisha's cookbook is that it is not filled with things you are just going to make for one meal..... the ingredients are what I already have - well, except for the buttermilk.

I would love to know all of Trisha, Garth's, Gwen, and Beth's recipes. I think a cookbook two should come out??!!! wink.gif biggrin.gif

I agree, I'd love to see another Trisha cookbook! I also love how it's just normal foods, and ingrediants! And for the most part its all very simple...I think the hardest thing(most time consuming is the German Choc. Cake), my kids absolutely Love the pound cake with icecream and berries!! And I Love all the entrees(I've made basically oll of them except the ribs and and the chicken pot pie(which I plan to make next week-I finally went grocery shopping! I have to admit, I chickened out of doing my turkey her way from the cookbook-I like how I make mine, and I know it works, so I stayed with that-and it was Awesome if I do say so myself! However for the 24 pd turkey I was up at 5:30 am--that part-not fun! lol Her punch which has become a staple for all my entertaining is Always a hit--it's soo simple, and yet soooo goood!! I enjoy making her foods, some things, like the mashed potatoes are how I've made mine all my life, so that was nothing new...but I love her daddys biscuits, and her mamas chicken noodle soup--first time I've made soup from scratch! Even my son has made several things out of the cookbook(pretty much by himself, and he's only 9!)

My mom made her pickles from the recipe, and they're good, but then, my moms pickles are always good! But she enjoyed trying a little bit of a different way...

All and all, Its the first cookbook that I've bought that I actually Use, over and over and over again!
Thank You Trisha, Gwen and Beth!!

Glad to see so many posts to this topic!

I still make stuff out of this cookbook! The Italian Cream Cake I just made! And the fried chicken is the biggest hit at my house. Now that winter is here I think I will cook alot more since its colder out. I really want to try to make the Baked Potatoe Soup and things I want to try again is the stuffed pork chops and ribbion meatloaf!! The cookbook was written so well it helped a 22 year old male cook meals with NO EXPERINCE!

Great job Trisha

The caramel candy has now become a new Holiday Memory and tradition for me and my family... My husband, Mom & Dad, and I just made two batches of the candy, and spent a loooooooooong time sitting around the table wrapping about 300 pieces of it. Everyone had a job -- a wax paper cutter, a candy cutter, and two candy wrappers. We have it down now!! Everyone we know will get some of the candy to try.

as for the taste -- absolutely delicious!!! but I have to keep reminding myself about moderation!

Thanks Trisha!

Lynn
