Where to start. Let's see, outside the venue, the two local radio stations were giving each other heck, and the djs of one station were going around to people wearing t-shirts from the other station, saying they would give them two of their station shirts in exchange for the one they had on from the other station. I thought that was hilarious.
The meet and greet was very cool. The Sugarland people were waiting in line (I was second) for Pat Green to finish his meet and greet. So we all got to meet him for a second as well when he came out and gave us a hard time and said that he was sorry to be the one to tell us that Sugarland would not be having the m&g because Kristian jumped off their bus and broke his leg.
It was a lot different than Trisha's in that they had a ton of people, so it was a quick hi, photo, autograph thing, kind of like at Fan Fair. In fact, the photographer said if Sugarland wasn't done when Kenny came in to do his m&g, the rest of the Sugarland people would have to leave. But Jennifer, Kristian and their photographer were very cool. They don't let you use your own camera. Instead, their tour photographer takes the one snapshot and then the m&g photos from each show are posted on Shutterfly for you to purchase prints or drag to your computer. Any way, they were very nice and introduced themselves, and I did get to tell them how much I enjoyed their ACM performance last week. I can't wait to see how the photo comes out.
Now, the show itself. Pat Green was amazing. He had the crowd really get into it. When he sang "Wave on Wave," he was telling everyone to stand up. He looked down front and said if you guys don't stand up, I'm gonna jump down their and show you what stand up means.
Then Sugarland came on. Wow, they have such energy and have soo much fun on stage. They opened with "Settlin." Of course they did the big hits, and when Kristian sang Jon Bon Jovi's part on "Who Says You Can't Go Home," my hubby said, he is finally singing and earning his money. I was just like whatever. I hate when he gets like that when we are out trying to have a good time. I didn't let it ruin my fun and I loved hearing "Baby Girl" and "Down in Misissippi." Of course, they saved my fave, "Something More," for last.
In the middle of their set, they also did a very interesting choice for a cover song. Jennifer said something about the crowd maybe knowing the song, but they reworked it bluegrass style because that's how they do it. Then the music kicks in and she starts singing, "to the left to the left." I was just like OMG they are NOT singing what I think they are. Then she starts singing "Irreplaceable" by Beyonce'! I was freaking out because I actually like that song. I kept thinking, I wonder what Beyonce' would think of that. Very cool!
What can I saw about Kenny's show. He was great. Everyone was singing along to every word and he let the crowd sing alot. He had a ton of big screens behind him showing him on the beach and fans tailgating at different venues and things. The crowd went crazy when he sang "That's Where I Come From" and the screens showed street signs around Lafayette and directions to the Cajundome and several bars and other places around the area.
We ended up leaving a little early to try to beat the crowd rushing out the door because I really went for Sugarland and I was not disappointed at all. I just had such a blast! What a fun show and night out. I will definitely go see Sugarland if they play here again in the future.
Sorry so long. Hope you enjoy my little review.!
