I'm glad they're listening to the fans, but I have to say that I'm shocked. Nothin 'Bout Memphis is radio-friendly and a clear favorite but it's not even included in the poll. Drown Me and Nothin' Bout You joined Falling to make up the poll. I understand the presence of Falling, but the first two make absolutely no sense, except that they want an uptempo tune. If fans are already rallying around a song with potential, why is it being ignored in favor of two songs that have barely even been mentioned in our initial debate (and which I think are the two weakest cuts on the album)? I am disappointed that Big Machine has done this. Memphis has bigger potential and I don't relish watching it get passed over because of formulaic machinations.

Let's try to stay positive here. I am sure all of us have our favorites on the album. If it is not on the voting list, well then we just have to vote for the one on the list we want to hear on the radio and support Trisha! smile.gif

Thanks!

I absolutely LOVE all three of those songs on the list, so picking just ONE was really hard! I finally voted though, now I'll just have to wait and see which one gets the official nod!! laugh.gif

Which song was it up against?

They Call It Falling For A Reason.

This was the final breakdown:

WOW -- this turned out to be our closest "Test Drive" ever.

53% of voters chose "Nothin' 'Bout You Is Good For Me" with predominantly female votes
47% of voters chose "They Call It Fallin' For A Reason" with a pretty even mix of male / female votes

Which means -- Big Machine has a tough decision to make!

I do believe that if they are looking for another power house vocal, (upbeat to follow HHPOL) they are headed in the right direction. That's what radio looks for. And AmberJ, you are right. Although we all have our personal favorites, the label is looking for something that will make others sit up and pay attention. TY fans are obviously already there. Why do TY fans care which one goes to radio? If your like me, I have all TY recordings on cd, on IPOD, car stereo, home stereo ect. Radio release is just looking to create more TY fans. (There can never be enough of us)

Drown Me, hands down.
SHE ROCKS!

Stay well

I think XM was a poor choice for this vote because the listeners at XM listen to XM because they cant stand mainstream radio. So they are 9 times out of 10 going to pick the more country tune which is good. They have good taste lol. But mainstream is ALOT different(in a bad way from XM)

The reason I want to hear "Memphis" is because I think it stands the best chance at climbing the charts about the same chance as "They Call It Falling" BUT I think when people hear "Memphis" that is the song that will drive people out to buy the album
The more people who buy the album the more her label and radio will support her over time. Another fan at another website had a similar view

But since it isnt a option I am going to vote for "They Call It Falling" and I am going to fight for it to climb the charts so I can increase the chance of a 4th single which will hopefully be "Memphis!!"
Good Luck Trisha

I got to say that I voted for They Call It Falling. Also even though This Is Me You're Talking To was not as big of a hit as it should have been. We all know it did better since it was released on Big Machine. Imagine if it was a MCA single.

Huh. It's kind of interesting to hear you say this, since the "contest" was done on the main country channel, which plays current country songs. Those aren't the most country songs--at least not the ones that most artists release. I've heard many artists go to XM to do this same "test drive", Alan Jackson being the most recent, and I believe even Carrie Underwood just the other week. Is she very country? laugh.gif I guess it's a good thing people can also vote on Big Machine's site. smile.gif

True but a big reason alot of country fans have XM is for that reason. You get Carrie and all but you also get alot of those older acts or off the path type acts played on their mainstream channel....Like just today for a couple seconds I was listen to Highway 16 and heard a new Clay Walker song! I am not saying they shouldnt have done it, I just hope the take more things into consideration for it smile.gif
