Jan. 7, 2009 — One of Nashville’s celebrated musicians, bass player Dave Pomeroy, tragically lost his dog in a fire at his house over the weekend while he moving things into his new office at the Musicians Union.
Dave played on most of Trisha Yearwood’s hits — including "She’s In Love With The Boy," "The Song Remembers When" and "Walkaway Joe" — in addition to hits by Tracy Lawrence, Don Williams and Keith Whitley.
The fire broke out in Dave’s home’s electrical wiring, destroying some of his instruments and killing Duke, his pet. Despite the loss, the musician maintained an admirably selfless attitude.
"I'll be fine," Dave told The Tennessean. "I've got insurance, and I've got friends. If somebody wants to help me, just be good to Room In The Inn and homeless people everywhere because I've got a home."
Room In The Inn is a Nashville organization that assists the homeless. Dave officially became president of the Musicians Union last week.
