So something about the summer made me pull out Trisha's cookbook and try a new recipe. Last year we tried about 6 different recipes and stayed with them over the year but now I am ready to try something new. I was looking for a new way to cook pork chops and so I went looking through the cookbook and found the Pork Chop and Rice recipe. We had it for dinner last night and they tasted so good! The beef broth gave the pork chops such a wonderful taste. We are going to make some ribs the weekend after the 4th as we are going to celebrate the 4th with family out of town. I also am going to start making some of the desserts. Have any of you been cooking some of Trisha's dishes lately? Can't wait until the new cookbook comes out next year!

Last weekend myself and some friends through a surprise picnic for one of our friend's birthdays on Clearwater Beach. I was elected to do the cooking, so I pulled Trisha's His & Hers Deviled Eggs and Banana Pudding. Neither lasted too long! Everybody loved both dishes, and I have to say, Garth's recipe for deviled eggs was the favorite, although I preferred Trisha's.

Linda Hogan, Hulk's ex, was actually on the beach next to us. She also liked the pudding ;-)

We had a family gathering last weekend and my mum decided to use Trisha's cookbook (which I got for her Christmas) and do a Southern style theme for the food. It was a huge success and the unanimous favourites where the Zucchini Saute, BBQ pork ribs and Trisha's meatloaf! Delicious!!! laugh.gif

That darn Meatloaf is the best, so easy and so dang good! She is right, the simpler the better when it comes to Meatloaf. I personally think the mustard is the key. I had never done one with it, though my mother did make her's almost exactly the same minus the mustard, and if she were still alive today, i am sure she would be doing it Trisha's way. My momma and grandma cooked a lot like Trisha's family did. We are from Missouri though, not Georgia.

I am making Gwen's Old-Fashioned Potato-Beef Casserole. I think I know the recipe by heart, (which I am harding with each and every serving) I am on my second book, I left my first in Portland at my aunt's house. It was a bit water damaged anyway, not perfect but very usuable. Maybe my aunt will appricate it, though I think she wouldn't want to admit this is the food we grew up on...she is all healthy and a food snob. I love this cookbook. I feel like I have my parents with me when I cook from it.

I Still LOVE her Cookbook!! I can't Wait til her next one comes out next year!!
I think I've truly made about every recipe in the book! I have yet to make the boiled peanuts--just doesn't sound good to me...I also haven't made the Brunswick Stew(but hope to this winter), or the Salmon Croquestts--Has anyone made these? I'm not a big fish person, but I'm trying to change that!! I also haven't made the Orange Roughy(but my mom did and they loved it!) and I haven't made the catfish or collards yet either...

Her Meatloaf recipe was exactly like mine, the only difference is that I use oatmeal instead of crackers...so that was kinda cool!

The kids favorite are the brownies and the pound cake--especially now with so many fresh strawberries!! Yummy!!

I also really love the grilled carrots and the Zucchini Saute-yum!~
I'd say I make something from her cookbook at least once or twice a week! It's become a real staple in our house....especially the salads lately!
