I was so disappointed that I wasted my precious time and hard earned money to get a cookbook that I was sure was going to be great.
The book it's self is beautiful, great pictures, interesting stories, but the food SUCKED!

I made The Hot Corn Dip and still don't know what the hell "mexican canned corn" is and it was gross. I substituted kernal corn and added seasonings (since there weren't any) like salt, pepper and garlic powder. Not even my husband would eat it and he eats everything!

I made the Chicken Picatta and my kids damn near cried. I have made something very similar but this was bad and no "play-by-play" instructions or "step-by-step" pictures to show you how it should look. Untimately, icky!

And Red Velvet cake??? 1 2-oz. bottle of red food colouring? Are you kidding? I understand that it's a southern thing but red food colouring is not recommened for any children especially ones with A.D.D / A.D.H.D.! It makes them much worse! So not necessary!

This book will be donated to a local charity yard sale. Such a disappoinment. Stick to what you do best Trisha, just keep singing!

Sorry that your experience with the cookbook was disappointing, but that hasn't been my experience. I have made the chicken picatta and my husband and I love it. It's easy to make and delicious. I have found the recipes easy to follow and "user friendly." I'm sorry this wasn't the case with you.

I made the Sweet and Saltines tonight..... I'm so flipping glad we have company for the holiday tomorrow because I can hear them calling my name from the freezer. They are THAT good; hubby loves them. I'm going to try Miss Gwen's style the next time with half a cup of butter as I find them slightly sweet, but I've no doubt there wont be any left tomorrow.

The pan I used was a bit bigger that the recipe mentions. That meant that there were eight crackers that did not have as much "good stuff" on them as the others. I ate those while my grandsons went to work on the "loaded" crackers. All crackers were great. This is so simple to be so good. Be sure to let it sit in your mouth a moment so you can get the full sweet and salty experience - if you can wait for your second one.

Thank you so much for the info, but it certainly wouldn't have helped this recipe. The addition of a few pieces of canned red pepper wouldn't have made a lick of difference to this bland, crappy tasting recipe.

I've made the corn dip and it was a Major hit at our bbq! Everyone Loved it! It was Sooo good! The saltine crackers are exactly what Trisha called them--"crack" they are sooo addicting! I've made so many recipes from this cookbook, the pork medallions, the breakfast bowl, and a bunch of other entrees and my husband and 3 kids Love everything so far-ok, Not the asparagus, which I thought was Yummy!! So far, I haven't found anything in either cookbook that wasn't a big "Hit"!

I'm sorry you've had a bad experience with it.

All I can say is, Trisha, you Nailed it again! THANK YOU!

I'm just proud that both of Trisha's cookbooks made the New York Times Bestsellers list. Everything I have made in the cookbooks has turned out fantastic! Where is this local charity event so I can make a bid on the donated cookbook?!
