Not sure if this has already been posted but I just stumbled across a little article on www.livedaily.com:
Trisha Yearwood [ tickets ] has announced a Sept. 11 release date for "Trisha Yearwood's Greatest Hits," a 17 track set that includes some of the country singer's best-known songs, as well as two previously unreleased cuts, according to a press release.
Don't know what the 'press release' is so I'm always a bit uncertain about unconfirmed news - interesting though!!

That's interesting, I thought I remember Trisha saying that there were no new songs included on the GH album. I have heard the date before, and can't wait to add to my Trisha collection! I will be surprised if there are any "previously unreleased cuts" on it though...
Thanks for the info!

I was hopping Georgia Rain and Love Will Always Win would be on it.

I could have sworn when they asked about it in her XM interview that she said she didn't know if they would release it but it wouldn't have any new songs on it. Hmmmm. I've been seeing the articles too though that state it will have 2 new songs. So if it does, I'll be buying it.
But I am much more excited about everything happening with Big Machine and very happy she made the move there!

I'm betting that she probably didn't record anything new for the Greatest Hits 2 project. I think maybe MCA is just pulling some unreleased stuff from the vault to pad this last project on the label.

That wouldn't surprise me if it was some previously recorded but never released songs. Didn't she have a lot of work done on another album before Georgia Rain and then scrap that and start over?

She did, some of which she rerecorded for Jasper County, but I wouldn't trust the leaked track list just yet....

That's true, nothing has been confirmed as of yet, and when it is, it'll be posted by Amber
I'm sure...until then, we wait....me, I'm WAY MORE EXCITED about her New Album with BM-which has already treated Trisha and her new single like the star she is-which is Sooo nice for once!

MCA could have done anything though. Even without Trisha's permission or knowledge. It happens to artists alot. These could have been songs that didnt make past album cuts like Jasper County or others.

if they are the unreleased songs that trisha scrapped from the jasper county album shes probably not too happy about them making the cd...they didn't make the cd because she didn't think they were good enough...i doubt she wants them on another cd...but i guess it wasn't up to her

If the track listing above is true, then there are 10 songs that were on Songbook, 2 more of the songs were on the Import version of Songbook which leaves 3 songs (There Goes My Baby, Powerful Thing, and I Would Have Loved You Anyway) plus the 2 new ones.
When I heard there was going to be a new greatest hits album, I was hoping for something like this:
Believe Me Baby (I Lied)
Everybody Knows
I Need You
There Goes My Baby
Where Your Road Leads
Powerful Thing
I'll Still Love You More
Where Are You Now
Real Live Woman
I Would've Loved You Anyway
Inside Out
I Don't Paint Myself Into Corners
Georgia Rain
Trying To Love You
Love Will Always Win
New Song #1
New Song #2
These are all of the songs that were released as singles from albums that came out after Songbook.
Not that it matters anyway. I own all of Trisha's CDs so I can listen to any greatest hits combination I want to. It's just funny that the new greatest hits album is basically Songbook with a couple of different songs.
All that being said, I am looking forward to the 2 new songs on this CD and the new CD in November. We can never get enough new Trisha music. :-)

This is exactly, what I hate about greatest hits collections: 15 songs everybody's got (at least all her fans have got) and 2 previously unreleased songs so the hard-core fans will also buy it.
And to make matters worse in this case: most of the 15 "old songs" were already on songbook. come on! It's not like there's not enough other stuff of Trisha's around, is it.
They could at least have had the decency to add hits from the latter albums, especially the former "2nd release" add-ons squezze me in and love will always win.
Besides they haven't only got all of the "dismissed" stuff from the first Jasper county sessions, they've also got lots and lots of Trisha material that never made it to the albums, but was released on tributes and soundtracks. Why didn't they at least add these?
Much as I hate to boycott anything from Trisha (and as much as I'll hate not having these songs!):
I'm not going to buy this CD
- it's the old label, that rather harmed her career than forward it
- it's dragging money from the fans with a greatest hits cd that's more or less a rerelease of the
international songbook with very view songs exchanged (and even less added)
- I wouldn't be surprised if we'd have to wait until next year for the BM-release now, due to this
MCA-"GH" release.
As hard as it will be: I'll bide my time and I'll wait for the release of Trisha's new CD, hoping that it WILL be released in the fall. Can't wait to buy that one!

As long as the single does well, this should not effect the release date of the album.

Might not be she thought they weren't good enough. Could of been she was only allowed to but x ammount of songs on an album so she had to cut. When Faith Hill turned in Breathe she had 16 songs on it. WB made her cut three songs off and she was quoted as saying that was a hard thing to do because she loved all 16.

Each is entitled to her/his own opinion, but I look at this like Trisha had no control of the matter. MCA's decision was no doubt one last effort to profit from Trisha's work.
Personally, I will still buy anything/everything that has Trisha's amazing voice on it.
