This is soo cool! Emmy and Wy being honored at the same time. Wy certainly could use a positive event like this right now. At the bottom, it gives a website to visit with info on submitting an artist for the honor. Garth and Trisha next time anyone?! tongue.gif We will have to see what is involved and what we can do to help them out. wink.gif

Emmylou Harris, John Hiatt, Wynonna, Frances Preston, Michael W. Smith and the Crickets make up the second class of inductees to the Music City Walk of Fame. The six will be honored with the unveiling of their stars in the Hall of Fame Park Sunday, April 22. The public is invited to attend the 3 p.m. induction ceremony, which is sponsored by Great American Country.
The new inductees join Reba McEntire, Ronnie Milsap, Roy Orbison, songwriters Felice and Boudleaux Bryant, the Fisk Jubilee Singers, and the late Maestro Kenneth Schermerhorn. The six original inductees received stars last November.

Permanent sidewalk medallions made of stainless steel and terrazzo, with each honoree's name displayed in a star-and-guitar design, will be installed in the sidewalk along the Music Mile, the roughly one-mile stretch of Demonbreun Street from 4th Avenue South to the Music Row Roundabout at 16th Avenue South. The plaques for this class of inductees will be inlaid in Hall of Fame Park on Demonbreun, between 4th and 5th Avenues South.

Nominations are open to the public and are currently being accepted for future honorees, with the next induction ceremony set for November 2007. For more information, including submission guidelines and forms, go to visitmusiccity.com/walkoffame.

Well, I decided to check out the site just to see what was involved in nominating an artist for the walk of fame. As you can read, it is NOT cheap. I wonder how Reba, Wy and the others had their stars paid for. First, Trisha and/or Garth would have to agree to this to even be submitted for the walk of fame. Following the submitted nomination, they would have to be approved by the committee. Even though it would be a huge honor for them, I think if we were to band together to raise that kind of money for them between now and August, I just think they both would rather us donate that money to their charities of choice and put the money to good use, rather than for a star. Plus, they would have to attend the dedication ceremony. I don't know, what does everyone else think? Would it be worth asking Johanna if Trisha would want this?

Music City Walk of Fame Nomination Guidelines

1. Nomination forms are now being accepted for the November 2007 induction ceremony.

2. All applications must be received by August 22, 2007 to be considered for the November induction ceremony of the Walk of Fame.

3. Nominations must fall in one of four categories.

Categories for Nominations:

Artist
Songwriter
Musician
Producer/Music Industry Executive
4. Criteria for Walk of Fame Star Guitar:
The criteria for receiving a star guitar consist of the following: professional achievement, longevity of career, contributions to the music community and the guarantee that the celebrity will attend the dedication ceremony if selected. Posthumous awards require a two-year waiting period. One posthumous award is given each year.

5. Cost of Walk of Fame Ceremony:
The cost of a Walk of Fame Ceremony is $7,500. If selected, the fee is due eight weeks prior to the induction ceremony. The money will be used to pay for the creation and installation of the star, as well as maintenance of the Walk of Fame and as a contribution to the Music City, Inc. 501©3 charitable foundation. It is understood that the cost of installing a star in the Music City Walk of Fame, upon approval, is $7,500. A $50 processing fee must accompany the nomination form. The sponsor of the nominee accepts the responsibility for arranging for payment to Music City, Inc., a 501©3 charitable foundation.

6. Submissions
When nominating an individual or group, the sponsor must submit the nomination form, a photo, a bio and the nominee’s qualifications as well as a list of contributions to the community and civic-oriented participation. Applications can be made by anyone including a fan as long as the celebrity or his/her management is in agreement with the nomination. If there is no letter of agreement included from the celebrity or his/her representative, the committee will not accept the application.

7. It is understood that, should the nominee be chosen for placement in the Music City Walk of Fame, said nominee guarantees to be present at the dedication ceremonies on a date and time mutually agreed upon with the Music City Walk of Fame Committee. An induction ceremony must be scheduled within two years of the selection date or the nomination must be re-submitted. Induction ceremonies are public events. Honorees recognize that, as such, footage and photos of the event are in the public realm.

Guess we need to dig around on Wy's website... I'm sure it was a lot of fan contributions.

I think this is the same amount as the stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, which she also deserves! happy.gif
