Wow, I would LOVE to be at this show, but my husband and I are heading to Alaska so guess I'll just have to wait to see it on CMT. I have no doubt though that this show will probably be one of best "Crossroads" ever.

Trisha Yearwood and singer-songwriter Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds will pair up for the next CMT Crossroads special. The episode, which according to Trisha's website will be taped in Nashville on Aug. 31, is expected to air on CMT later this year.

In addition to writing and performing his own songs and countless songs for other artists, "Babyface" is a Grammy-winning producer. His new album, Playlist, will consist of cover versions of classic songs such as Bob Dylan's "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" and James Taylor's "Fire and Rain."

A noteworthy producer, Babyface came to popularity in the mid80's. I know him from his work on Sheena Easton's LOVER IN ME album. He was the "IT" producer for many R&B acts. I believe he was a pivotal figure in the emergence of BOYS TO MEN.

I remember back in the day (early nineties) he was a triple threat of the highest order. Writer, producer, performer, he did it all and was THE man to work with for many R & B artists. Anyone who was anyone worked with him, usually with chart topping results. Here is a link to some of his accomplishments. I am really excited to see him working with Trisha, I also noticed he will be with Garth to the MLK Dream Concert in Sept.

Yearwood teams with Babyface to rehearse CMT duet

Country singer Trisha Yearwood and R & B singer Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds teamed up on stage Thursday afternoon at the Globe-News Center for the Performing Arts to rehearse a duet they will film together today in Nashville for the CMT television network.
Edmonds, who had performed the night before in a private concert for Anderson Merchandisers, had just finished singing "Exhale (Shoop Shoop)" when Yearwood walked on the stage to join him.

"That sounds great. You don't need me at all," she said to him as she took her place at a microphone.

Edmonds wrote and produced the song for Whitney Houston in 1995 to go with the movie "Waiting to Exhale." The two sang the song together a couple of times as a crew from CMT did some filming and recording.

A spokesperson for CMT said the two will film duets today in Nashville as part of the network's "Crossroads" program which pairs a country artist with an artist from a different genre of music.

Yearwood was scheduled to perform last night for the Anderson Merchandisers event. Anderson Merchandisers distributes music, video, books, magazine and other entertainment media nationwide.

Yearwood is known for such songs as "She's in Love With the Boy," "How Do I Live," "XXXs & OOOs," and the duet with her husband Garth Brooks, "In Another's Eyes."

Edmonds, a writer, singer and producer, is known for his songs "For the Cool in You," "Whip Appeal," "Never Keeping Secrets" and "Reason for Breathing."

The "Crossroads" show featuring the two performers will air at 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, on CMT.

Thanks for that article! Trisha singing Whitney's "Shoop Shoop" song - OMG I can't wait to hear that. She will absolutely kill it!! And I wonder if that 9/21 airdate is confirmed. If so, it is awesome CMT is airing it so soon, usually they tend to wait a little longer to air shows after the taping. Not that I'm complaining - the sooner the better.

I can't wait for this! I am so glad it is going to be the 21st and not after the 26th! I am going in for spinal surgery that day, and it will be a while before I actually can focus on tv or whatever. So I'm psyched! Can't wait to see this! (hope someone can tape this for me, as I will be looking for things to watch when I get home - and Trisha is always a big help recouping!!!)

Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds is not just the R&B singer that we all know. The man has a different side and he showed it Friday night. Babyface teamed up with country singer Trisha Yearwood to tape the newest episode of CMT Crossroads. But much to Babyface's dismay, Garth Brooks, Trisha's hubbie, was not on hand for the show in Nashville. Who knew he was such a fan? He told us how he got into country music. "The crowd is so into it. They're on their feet the whole way through it. I went to a Garth concert once -ridiculous. (Trisha laughs) And that was like?it just opened another door to me in terms of like music and energy and the feeling that was behind it, also. Ya know, I'm a big fan."Babyface and Yearwood sang some of their biggest hits including Trisha's "Walkaway Joe" and Edmond's "When Will I See You Again".
